Consequences of improper installation or use of rubber flexible joints

The rubber flexible joint is a kind of equipment component installed on the pipeline. Although it mainly plays the role of vibration reduction and noise reduction, if it is not installed properly or is not used in a standardized manner, it may cause serious consequences, such as leakage, pulling problems, immersion deformation and dimensional deformation.

  • Leakage: Leakage is mostly caused by non-standard installation. During installation, tightening the screws is a process that must be taken seriously. The diagonal tightening method cannot be changed, otherwise there will be a partial seal, which will lead to water leakage in the rubber flexible joint.
  • Pulling situation: This situation is because the actual stretching of the installed pipeline exceeds the limit stretching length of the rubber joint, which causes the flange to be forcibly pulled out from both ends of the sphere. In this case, please replace the double-sphere rubber flexible joint in time, or you can also use a limit device in the rubber joint. In addition to certain specifications for the stretching of the rubber joint, the limit device also has a great improvement on the vibration of the pipeline.
  • Immersion deformation: This happens to ordinary rubber joints installed in oil pipelines. Since oil rubber has a corrosive effect, long-term immersion will cause swelling of the rubber flexible joints, resulting in sealing problems and a decline in its own quality. Therefore, oil-resistant rubber joints must be used in oil pipelines.
  • Dimensional deformation: The dimensional deformation comes from the strong distortion of the pipeline. Due to the large degree of inclination of some pipelines, they will be distorted during transportation. The rubber flexible joint is a particularly pressure-resistant product, but it is helpless against distortion. In this case, please replace the rubber joint with a high-pressure resistant rubber joint.
